Whoa.  I can't believe I grew these dear fragrant sweet peas from seed!

The crop isn't actually that good. Tons of foliage; not a ton of flowers. Still, they were incandescent the other early eve in the vesper light. I could have taken hundreds of pictures of these three small vases of flowers.

I'm thrilled they bloomed before I take off for back East in a few days. My friend Patrick who'll be staying at my place can enjoy them, too.

  2. beautiful! I love sweet peas but never planted them from seed until justa few weeks ago. I hope they will grow well!

  3. Really beautiful flowers. They remind me of my childhood. Thanks for sharing the shots with us. They are called "ervilha-de-cheiro"in portuguese. Have a safe trip. Antonio-RJ

  4. One of my absolutely favorite flowers. So glad that you could grow them.

So beautiful and was wondering if it is too late to plant them? P.S. Heather, I just finished reading "Stripped" and although I don't have cancer, I was drawn to this book because of another medical issue. I could relate to so much of your experiences, thoughts, etc. What a blessing!

  6. Thank you, people--one of my favorite flowers, too--I'm no veteran gardener but I do think folks usually plant them earlier in the season. They're more of a spring bloom from what I understand...but I could be wrong!
