YELLOW BIRCHES

I always thought this was called the golden birch but apparently yellow birch is correct. I would love to own a little jacket or a pair of shoes fashioned from its pleasantly raggedy, pewter-bronze bark.

27 years sober today. Mystified. Humbled. Forever grateful.

  7. Congratulations, Heather. Those birches are truly beautiful, and so are sober ones with senses of humor.

  9. After I read this post I caught sight of the Robert Bresson quote you've got on the left-hand side of your homepage: "Make visible what, without you, might perhaps never have been seen." Well, that fits what you do here and elsewhere to a T, Heather -- thank you! And I applaud your courage and steadfastness all those 27 years.

  10. Awwww. Thank you so much for all the good wishes. Believe me, sobriety is nothing I've accomplished; rather, something I've undergone...The mystery continues and deepens. And so, thank God, do the laughs....
