BODIES

Bodies disappear like ghosts
become invisible
untouchable absent
discovered in bathtubs
fainting on streets
swaying on stretchers
departing with a photograph in hand
freed from a watch a wedding ring an umbrella
beautiful as during a nuptial night
naked
truly faithful this time for ever
friends with silence
that is with things in themselves
returning through the side door of a dream
suddenly omnipresent
screaming without sound
from inconsolable longing

  5. In looking up the word "vanish" last week, I was surprised by the opposite togetherness of the two meanings that came up, as they mirrored my experiences and my quarrel with death.

    To vanish:
    To gradually cease to exist.
    To disappear suddenly and completely.

    Luke 24:31 KJV
And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

May you see and know what you need to see and know in the days ahead as your mom continues to vanish from your sight. God be with you.
