A CHILD IS WAITING

After watching this film about a home for what they used to call "defective" kids, I'm going on a huge John Cassavetes run. Plus is Judy Garland not to die for? If you have "abandonment issues" (and who doesn't?), give this a screening. (Cassavetes was an alcoholic and died of cirrhosis at the age of 59). Available on netflix.

  1. Thanks for this, Heather. Can't wait to see it. I'm very intrigued by the whole chain of dysfunctional parenting issues that have--like original sin--been with us since the first parents.

If you haven't seen it already, I think you would like We Need To Talk About Kevin (Pay Per View), a more recent film which, I think, makes a great cautionary tale about dysfunctional parenting.

I'm working on my own borderline, Borderline Personality Disorder(BPD)issues with the help of the great Marsha M.Linehan's book on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She, an ex-nun, developed Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for the treatment of BPD.

Like you, I'm the product of a very busy mother who in turn was the product of an emotionally absent mother and so on and so on ad nauseum.
